Who is running longfields now?

Post by RUFF »

These have been available in aus now for a while and i was just wondering who is running them now and how do you find them?
Were they worth the money?
Have you had them out since you fitted them?
Are they still in the same condition they were in when fitted?

Mine have handled a lot of abuse and the $$$ i spent have been worth it 10 fold, i would have spent more on replacement CVs in the past 5 months then i outlayed on the longs and i hope to get the same amount of time out of them again yet.

Yeah good things i reakon, i have wound the steering bump stops out though like you said.

There would be at least 7 or 8 occasions where i would have broken a stocker. (only being running them for 4 or 5 months)

Well worth the money.

No, these are from the states so nissan isn't real popular over there.

However there is a guy here in brisie doing hilux and cruiser CV,s and i think (note think) he's doing nissan ones.

C.O.R.E (custom off road engineering, or something like that)

Does any one have Brett,s phone number. :?:

Can they just treat existing CVs? What else do they do to them to strengthen them up? Can they do any CV?

BRETT @ CORE

yes they do nissan ones, as i saw starkys patrol have them in it:

0402 842 989

however i suggest only ringing him if you are serisou, these items are not cheap and are for those who break a lot of CVs

I thought I had longfields, but apparently, they are not longs, since, grant doesnt think they are

Is Snake the only one that imports them?
Also how much does CORE charge?

snake is the aussie distributor for longfields

the set that i "apparently" bought were imported before snake became the sole distributor....

without a contact in the US it would be difficult now!
I also got a set for POS, so maybe his are just "apparent" longs and not the real deal too

Brett quoted $250 to get my Volvo ones treated and a ring welded on. Is this reasonable? I still have to get them tested by a metallurgist first to see if they're suitable for the treatment. Then I gotta sort shipping up to Queensland and back. But it should be good insurance since these aren't common.

considering the longfields through snake are anywhere up to $650 a side i think it is very good value

also grindrod has tested his, and ive seen them holding up to 38s on a heavy cruiser, with hydro steer, so NAM, i think that may be the way to go!!

i talked to brett alittle about his and i believe that he is still testing them to some degree, i do know for a fact that if you break them he will exchange/refund them ASAP, i personally (if spending that kind of money) would get them of brett for the fact that i know he has them and will get them to you, and he is local.
LONGFEILDS, or the fakes like BJ has  , come in from the USA, even thou snake is the distributor is he going to warranty them? how long is the warranty claim going to take?

Sure longs are tried and proven but i think that other aspects need to be examined to help support a more australian manufacture, and as far as nissan ones go i think cheesy is working on something.

Yeah i was thinking of buying one of CORE's and keep it as a spare, when i blow a long i can run the CORE until i get the long back from the states.

I was going to wait but it seems the CORE ones are holding up and being local he'll have one ready for you.

hey boatlux it seems you and me are running fake longfields

my "fakes" seem to be holding up to the 42 x 15 wide swampers
and yours are doing ok on the 38.5 x 16 wide claws

AMAZING maybe they are not stock items? NAH, Grant (from 1000klms away without looking has said they are not longs, and he has all the knowledge and skillz)

CORES seem to be working and for that $$$ its worth a try, especially if tehya re warrantied!

Who the hell is grant?

Hey bj, we'll just bring him out to highway to hell (outer limits proving grounds) and see who breaks their birfields first.

Thats even if he could get through the access track.

Once again, who the hell is Grant?

its top secret POS, and he will make some phone calls to see if you genuinely were thinking about putting rockwells or volvo axles under your hilux!! but anyways, i dont think he'd break his stock birfs, cause with 33s, and a 4 cylinder and a skirt driving you'd be hard pressed to do damage
