Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hi rang nissan for a new radiator for my TD42 gq patrol and the quoted me $810.00 then i rang radiator shop the same radiator was $350 so the question is what is the difference in the radiator if any ? they look exactly the same to me. any way i got the $ 350 radiator.

Found the same thing with the Raider I had. I went with the aftermarket one which turned out to be a little more effecient than the original and a bonus was it was all metal (no plastic top and bottom tanks). Don't know the story with the Nissan but if it is like anything else, OEM can mostly be matched with aftermarket gear that is just as good and even better for a lot less dollars.

Was the one for $350 a recored genuine one or an aftermarket one? If it's a recored one then it will be fine. I've had one in my patrol for 2 years.

If it's an aftermarket one made in Taiwan than I would be a bit hesitant because sometimes they don't fit real well.

Try Norm at Aussie Dessert Coolers. I think he does a 3 core triple flow brass/copper radiator for about $460....i think its about that much.

If it's made here they should be fine it's only the Taiwaneese products you have to be wary of.

Putting a 4 core Aussie Desert Cooler into mine cost $600ish, and dropped the temp gauge by 25%.

3 or 4 core radator is the way to go,
got 1 in my MQ with a 12'' thermo,
the ONLY time i flick the thermo on is in heavy traffic.
otherwise nothing cos the motor, clucth fan removed.... more power

and bout to do same with my GQ.
3 core with twin au thermos.

3 core radator bout $450
thermos bout $200
equals = NO OVERHEATING PROBLEMS EVER.

its worth the money for peace of mind.

Yes, I should add mine also has twin thermos in front of the radiator, and did have the engine fan behind it as well.

OEM is going to be alot better quality than most.

Not sure what nissan uses, but toyota uses denso, which will happily last 15 years. Where as other brands wont last much past 5 years. I had this confirmed to me by a radiator shop when i purchased mine. Even the good radiators with 5 year warranties wont last much past the warranty period.

Things just are not made to the same quality as OEM parts. Even denso units purchased through retail outlets may not be as high a quality as the units supplied to toyota.

A replacement radiator for my HJ60 was $900ish from toyota, i ended up getting one for about $350 aus made.

I'd say it would be no different to a locally recored/made one.

They would use the same bits, and just bung on more $$$ as nearly ANY genuine part is.
