I may have been mistaken, but years ago at the sydney motor show i stuck my head under a series 1 gu ti and saw what i think was a H260 with the vacuume actuator hanging off the back. Never heard of one since, has anyone?

Well, I know the GQ had them and I thought that it was originally a GU option.
As such im not suprised.

GQ's has a H223B vaccum Locker, the H260 were in the Cab Chassis and they were Conventional or LSD, not locked.
maybe the GU added it later on to the H260 but never heard of a factory locker in a GU

I don't know much on GU's apart from the ratios that the diff's came in.
I have seen GQ's with Factory lockers in the rear, but haven't ever seen a GU, but i can't say i have looked at every TI model,
GQ's with Factory lockers were H233B Diff's, H260's were in the Ute's and cab chassis. they were LSD or Open diffs.

Are you sure it's not a dealer-added ARB locker? Just wondering, not arguing

GU TI definately came with factory locker in the earlier series, not sure about current and late models.
H260 I do not believe they had a factory locker config.

nissans logic makes no sence tho. why would the luxury model have a factory fitted locker and the dx doesnt:S....... when dx and st would obviously spend more time in situations where it would be needed and ti would spend more time on road where the lsd would be better
also as far as i kno there was not a factory locker in the leaf rear utes wich is the h260 centre

On-road, a completely different car would be better. So it's really just about prestige and money. A locker costs more than an LSD, therefore a locker is more desirable.

Nissan have to build the DX to a cheaper price, so it loses out on some of the nice gear. Same reason why DX's have a crappy interior compared to a Ti.
