I think

you can put the GQ auto off the petrols in. Read on some thread a while ago it is a nightmare getting a 4.8 tiptronic box working with a different motor.
Cheers Julian

Nissan Australia GQ's come with a TD42 Auto too.. Safari's are 24volt, which may be a drama with elcetrics on the box. Not sure, I spoke with Rodney at Wholesale Automatics, he is yet to do this conversion.

I have a TD42 auto and it is a 94 RX model.........
but the early TI's had auto's in them.....
there was one in the trading post about a month back being wrecked......if you know someone that has an old copy in the recyle pile it was melbourne based and he had the whole car....

mates been talking with Nissan aust engineers abotu the 4.8 auto- in their words "nightmare" with sensors etc.
for ease of fitment, go with a GQ auto, and life happily ever after
There are rumours of people getting the 4.8 auto to work in other cars, but there are numerous electrical issues even if you get the box with the computer... :(
