IM trying to work out a nice simple/cheap way of bypassing the factory fuel filter on a SD33 .
Im running Cav filters and am wanting get rid of the factory filter. The factory setup has a pressure relif vavle setup so i cant simply bypass the whole filter. There must be a way .
I was thinking of using a remote filter setup and just running a hose from thr outlet back into the inlet.
Any suggestions, Or am i not maknig sense of it all.
Maybe someone knows the htread size for the filter off hand?
Thanks guys

As being a proud owner of a SD33T. I think you will find that the extra fitting on the inlet side of the fuel fillter is the pump return,, or injector spill.. OK just went and had a look and took sum pics!!
The writing is a little small.. dunt hesitate to email me for more info..
Im guessing you r worried about how much the filters are to replace!!
I have an alternate, a Z169A fits the stock filter pad,, EXCEPT there is no provision in the bottom of a Z169A for your filter drain light.. I have used this filter for a loooooooong time no becoz they are usually inder 10$ each.. Thats how much notice i take, the pics i took have a z169a fitted

Thanks for the pic. and the filter tip ( my truck always ran the cheaper filter ) According to my gregory's manual, the housing has an overflow vavle which opens at 147-157Kpa . it is incoperated into the return line.
SO i figure maybe there would be too much pressure from the lift pump at rpm casuing damage.
My reason for this setup is im trying to run straight vege oil in my truck , and i dont want the factory filter casuing a restriction in the setup. Presently i run a 50/50 mix ( diesel/oil) and havent had a problem, but i wanna get the old girl on pure oil. This is the last major hurdle for me to conquer.
Once shes done , ill put a write up on her and share the info.
Thanks again

Will do, Im working on getting some electrical injector line heaters from the states. Heats just b4 the injectors, so no great need for heat exchangers, etc till winter.
Checl out the UK ebay, they have some intresting stuff there.
Ill keep ya posted, Just need to bypass this filter first
Cheers

OK, another thought
147 kpa=21.3 psi .
What if i was to pressurise the fuel tank to about 20 psi. That would work wouldnt it, But what about the return line from the injector rail, will 20 psi greatly affect it? Im thinking not.
Id have to block off my lift pump to i guess ?
I ordered my line heaters today, so i need to get this puppy sorted out in the next few weeks or so.
Thanks

i dont think your factory filter is going to cause a resitriction. If its a z169A it should be able to flow well enough running straight vege oil.
having the cav filters fitted inline and before the factory one means ytoul never have to replace the factory filter.
If you really have your mind set on it, could you just modify a filter, remove the inside of it some how, maybe stick a dremel through the hole and cut the shazit out of it. or cut right the way around the filter, cut the inside out and then weld/braze it back together.
Were not talking huge pressures so even silver soldering it back together should do.
My (toyota) 2H definantly doesnt have a pressure relief system so i dont think its purely necessary. It looks like the use a very similar injection pump by the looks of the photos above, so maybe you can just bypass it altogether.
