Some Rb 30 info

Been doing a few mods to my Rb 30 engined patrol recently and this is what I have found.
Running 35 inch tyres. Fuel consuption was 19.5-18.5 litres per 100km. 5th gears was pretty much useless and acceleration was poor. Most hills on the highway required 3rd gear and the foot nailed to the floor.
Then I fitted 4.6 diff gears really worth while mod. Fifth gear was now useable and 4th gear was ok for most highway hills. Fuel consumption dropped to 17.5 litres per 100kms.
Next I removed the little heater thingy between the carby and manifold. Simply snapped it out, vacumed the bits out of the manifold and replaced the carby. Makes for a bit of an improvement whilst accelerating. Most noticable being after 4000rpm as it now continues pull to 5000 rpm rather than just running out of puff at 4000 rpm.
Had a run today and managed 16.7 litres to 100km not being to careful either.
Fit 4.6 ratios and air locker to the front tommorow. hopefully try a bit off road driving on friday to see how the mods improve things out bush.
Next is fuel injection. Turbo could be fun.
Or just sod it and go the V8
Hope this info is of some use too you other poor buggers with Rb 30 engined patrols
