I am guessing it is an 84 FJ40 with 2F engine which means your tank is under the cab, not in it like the earlier ones. You can get a tank which goes at the rear between the chassis rails which will hold about another 50L and you will still keep your ground clearance. Any bigger and you start to drag your guts.

That fuel economy still don't sound right, even for a 2F. A good service maybe cheaper than a bigger tank.

thankyou.... that is a LPG tank as well.... not petrol i am not sure how big the petrol tank is yet as i have not filled it till full just yet only got the truck 1 month ago and only just got it re-registered.

which would probably explain why you think the feul econemy is so bad....

its a 2f with 300000kms on it got extractors and a 2 1/2 " exhurst last service would have been less then 5000km ago as the guy who owned it before me got it serviced every 5000kms with out fail.

cheers

yeah i think mine was bout 70L (before i went straight gas) depends on how ya drive, if i drove with my foot flat to the board id recon i would only get about 300-350kms outta it (with the 2F), but its been a while since that was powering it so my figures may be off.

My mates got an FJ40 ute, its got a 120Litre gas tank behind the cab, in between the chassis rails, a 110 litre petty tank at the back under the tray between the chassis rails, and another 240litre gas tank on the top of the tray, easy fit.
think ur talking about a shorty though???
