is there any other way of moving the front axle forward apart from
relocation plates?

can the cast perch be cut down and replaced with a steel mount?
i was hoping to be able to brace it up by attaching it to the housing as well
for extra strength

If you want to move your axle forward would a shackle reversel do it? You would have the benifits of awesome flex, and I am pretty sure it moves it forward a couple of inch's at least.

if you intend to retain the same springs and diff you can move it forward about 3 inches easily enough.....

if you look at where your fron spring hangers are.... there is a coupla inches of bare chassis in front of them.... cut them off and move them forward to the front edge of the chassis and re weld....

then move your rear springs mounts forward the same amount as you moved the front ones depending on how you want your shackle angle to end up, just by cutting the mounts off and re welding.

then you can get about an inch out of the diff on the perches themselves if you drill a new centre hole on the perches and re locate the springs offset on the diff..... re-loaction plates will do the same thing.....

the only other side to the ball park is to look at changing what springs your running.....

measure the distance from the front spring eye bush to the centre bolt on the leave. then measure the total length of the spring....

go hunting for a spring thats either the same total length or longer that has a shorter distance between the cetnre bolt and the front spring eye.

this will also move your diff forward how ever far the difference in the distance between the front half of both springs is.

with IFS lux rears the distance between centre bolt and front mount is about 1 inch differen to the mq front springs ( so diff comes forward that much.... ) however the total length on the rear half of the spring is about 8 inches longer for the added flex.....

not too sure. havent measured it. I uesd IFS lux springs in the front instead of mq/mk front springs.... didnt touch rears.

the MQ rears are longer than IFS lux rears but too long to use in the front of the patrol.

bit of hi-jacking, but how could you move the rear diff back about 3",
I have an SD33 with a MQ ute cab and the rear wheels (31x10.5r15) only have maybe 3" clearance. I want to put bigger rubber under it but can't yet...
Any suggestions appreciated

Odd you have clearance issues with 31's. I am running 33's on my MQ and have zero rubbing or clearance issues. This is on stock 24yr old suspension too.

To move rear diff back flip rear leaves around.

with a tray.... fip rear leaves around, make a new shock crossmember and put a new driveshaft on and your right. gives you about 7 inches.
