TJ Flares on Sierra

I was going to do this but never have -even got a set of TJ flares, now that I have seen MUD-PIGSIERRA's efforts in the zook pics thread and the snorkel clears them, I might get off my ar$e and have a go.

Mud-PigSierra any hints or close up pics ??

Yeah I did see that, but mostly they were bushwacker flares or a shitty job (sorry if I offend anyone) and it was what put me off fitting mine.
MUD-PIGSIERRA seems to have done a chop job so they look fitted not just screwed on without matching up the wheelarch to the flare - and THAT is what I want the info on I guess.

That is probably going to be the hardest part of fitting them. The problem is that the Sierra wheel well is round, and the TJ flare is squarish. I did start doing one side of mine a while back, but cutting slits in the wheel arch then bending these to match the cut I made in the guard (which matches the shape of the TJ flare). Once you get to the front of the flare you will find there isn't enough metal in the Suzuki arch to mate up to the now cut guard, so you have to add some in there.

Also, to gain maximum benefit I think you really need to cut the guard all the way up to the headlight mount. But that kinda depends on what tyres you run and how far forward you front axle is.

I will get some pics of my unfinished effort and you can see what I mean.

I agree on the cut to match look that you want. Looks much better. Just thought you may not have seen that thread. :D

Sorry 'bout the wait. The pics aren't the best either, but you should be able to get an idea of what i'm talking about. When I get a chance i'll take the flare off and take some more pics. The flares are bolted to the guard, which I set nutserts into.

ify a wanna run tj flares ya use 2 sets of rears and dont worry about the front ones cause they look grimace( sorry damo :finger: ), with the rearsthey need a bit of a trim with the stanley to fit nicely on the front, and for the rear u leave then as is, depending on what tyre u run if its 32 and under ya wont have to trim the guards but lower ur flares and its all sweet. i did have pix but they were in my build up so they would be in cyber space sumwhere. if ya want sum photos i can email them to u.

I actually agree with you on that one. The TJ front's are just not the right proportions for the zook guards, that's why I had 110mm cut from the middle & plastic welded back together. I'm happy enough with how they look now.

I think I could have done this on the front too, and you wouldn't really be able to see much, if any, of the original guard so it might not look as dodgy. The reason I have mine up high is to give it a bit of virtual lift. You can make quite a bit of room in there, which is why it's so much stuffing around as Bad JuJu mentioned.

Sorry havent been on a couple of days, yeah I will organise some close up pics today for you if you still would like a look, My sierra is the Narrow track body and the rear of the inner guards at the front have been bashed in and cut a bit.

Here are some from the library maybe they might give you a bit of an idea or help out a bit, I will get some inner guard shots later today.

I am just going to use Rubber to make my wheels covers...
