A mate has a troopy around the 88 to 89 year petrol 3.9 he said. What motor is it? eg 2f, 2h, td42 etc.
Secondly, what engine transplants are easy and viable for more power as standard engine is almost dead?
What are the standard motors worth?
Any help would be great as i am in the wrong section

the motor would be a 3f, u could probly pick up another 3f or a 3fe (fuel injected) for around $700 or a bit more.
as for transplants what does he want a 2h deisel would go in without much trouble or a v8 conversion

Thanks for replys
He uses the car for towing so he wanted a v8 conversion, probably chev. Are the gear boxes strong enough and are the engine bays big enough also?
Are there any later model petrol engines but are still carbie that bolt straight in with no modifications apart from say exhaust? Maybe early 80 series?
I am only doing research for him and will not be helping doing the transplant so i want a very easy conversion where i will not be called every 10mins
I told him to buy a Patrol

I looked at the option of the 1FZ FE for mine but everyone said go with what has been done before so went with the VN V8. Chev conversion should be similar.
Given that I wasn't able to do any of the work myself, no change out of $10k engineered with gas (tank was already there though) EFI made it a little more expensive but well worth it.
As long as the rest of the vehicle is very clean and straight and u plan to keep it a long time, go the V8
