Outer Limits 4x4 Board

We've been looking for a new vehicle for transporting our new baby around. We will be taking delivery pre-xmas as taking delivery of baby in Jan.

So far we've looked at Merc ML320, BMW X3 and X5, Honda CRV, Nissan X-trail and Pathfinder. Then today we had a look at Grand Cherokee and Commander Limited.

We've pretty much made up our minds and i think we'll shortly be the owners of a nice black Commander Limited 3.0td with a few added bling features

Do you guys know much about these things that i should know. It won't be seeing any 4wd tracks, just the odd dusty trail.

hard to say, they are a brand new model, with a grand cherokee platform and tried to capture some of the old XJ stylings.

I hope it works out for ya, you might like its offroad capability too,
esp. with a lift on 33s

The 3 litre diesel is an absolute ripper of an engine, and with Quadratrack 2, mmmmmmm....... very nice.......

Mind you, I am Pres of Melbourne Jeep Owners Club, so I could be biased!

I reckon i'd love it's offroad capabilities. It'll be the missus' car though so it may take a little time before i can test it's capabilities

It's a shame they put IFS in it, maybe in the next 10-15yrs we'll be seeing these beasts with live axle conversions done to the front.

Hey, PK thanks for the invite to mjoc. I already feel like a bit of an outcast ~ Nissan and Jeep owner ~ and i haven't even bought it yet

you may not have to wait for 10-15 yrs for font live axle conversions. The KJ libertys (or cherokees in Aust) have them already in the first 5 yrs. Although I agree IFS may not be as good as a live axle for more hardcore stuff, Ive still seen IFS rigs get through a lot of crap (not only in Jeeps). Im still dumb founded why humvees have IFS and still classed and proven as a very versatile millitary vehicle.
