what do you do at volvo?
How long have you been there?
Reason i ask is my old man used to work for volvo trucks a few years ago now. He worked in the training dept.

I work as a Production Engineer. I look after the computer network that controls the programing of the ECU's (computers) in the trucks.
In the latest model the can be up to 22 ECU's.
I have been here 10 years.
What is your dads name, I will prob know him

The Malaysian guy said the king pins have a tendency to work loose but didn't say much about bushes. I'll ask him if he has trouble with them. Can't you get bushes made up quite easily though? I thought that was the case.
also tell the young bloke about the kingpin bushes!!
The volvo's don't have traditional king pin bearings or bushes but have hemisperically shaped steel plain bearings running in woven friction material lined seats similar to LandRovers ''Railko'' bushes. A 5/8'' unf bolt and nut is used to snug the bearings against the seats. If these bolts are allowed to loosen all the side loadings are taken by the relatively weak bolt itself and not the hemisperical bearings. The bolts break and among other things destroys the Birfield. If kept in good fettle Volvo axles are very strong and reliable.
