Custom fuel tank for '75 FJ40 SWB

Hey there, I'm new to this forum so please be kind. Before anyone pipes up - I have searched everywhere, including this forum, for what I'm about to ask. If someone has already posted about it - I apologise profusely!

I'm the proud owner of a 1975 FJ40 SWB. It's been sitting around in the backyard for a good couple of years, waiting for that elusive project cash to become available. Well it finally became available and I finally got started last week on a rebuild.

I just bought some new Autotechnica buckets for it, but I've found that the seats will sit a little high on the frame which was put in for the old seats. The existing frame looks like a hack job from the standard setup and fits over the fuel tank which is under the drivers seat. There is no auxiliary tank.

Anyway, I would like to ditch the existing tank, make up some nice new boxed frames with lockable drawers for the new seats, and lower the seats a couple of inches. All of this would be easy enough if I could find another fuel tank that would go under the floor.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I live on the north side of Brisbane. I've tried looking for fuel cell manufacturers, or custom tank makers, but haven't had any success. Talking to the guys at TJM they sell an auxiliary tank from some mob (Longrange Fuel Tanks or something like that in Victoria), but it's not a primary tank so it doesn't have the fuel filler fittings.

Something in the vicinity of 75L would be nice, and something with not too much height.

Can anybody help?

I found someone who can do a stainless steel tank to whatever dimensions you want at a very reasonable price. Thought I'd post the details here in case anyone else is ever looking for anything like this.

Tanks are built from 1.6mm thick 316 grade stainless steel and include baffles, sender unit, fuel filler points and fuel/return lines and mounting points wherever you specify.

I'll post pictures once I have it made and installed.

you can buy a Long range tank off the shelf that goes in the rear of the vehicle ( behind the diff) between the chassis rails.

i have one in one of my shories, I am trying to remember the sticker, it may be outback something.......

this would be your best bet

Hey Jess, thanks for the reply - I was losing hope.

Is there any chance you can snap a photo for me?
