Fitting temp gauge **HELP PLEASE**

This might sound silly but I went to fit a temp gauge to my 4.2 carby GQ. The problem I've found is that you can't get a sender to fit where the origanal was. I then tried to get an adaptor, no thats not happening either.

My questions are:
Are there any other plugs that go into the water jacket(blank ones)?
Do you have to drill out the original hole and re-tap it?

I've never had a problem putting these in other car I've had, and am supprised that this is such a pain. Am I missing something?

Thanks Rick

OK this still has me stuffed.

Someone out there must have been through this. I'm still hoping that there is a easy way to sort this out.

I would be surprised if there was no adapter available - from VDO or the like - care to guess at what the original thread type is?

Do you have the facility to measure pitch / width?

What sort of sender unit are you trying to replace it with?

You should be able to get an adaptor for it, although it may be hard to find. I went to Enzed and Pirtek and they couldn't help me, i then went to the place that supplies Enzed with there adaptors and they were a great help, i simply left him both sender units and the next day he had an adaptor ready, i think it was about $15
