Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I know there is 1 topic that covers it, but it doesnt tell me much.

A guy on RMP&O was telling me that a Ford crossflow will bolt up to the stock bellhousing once some dowel pins are moved.

Is this true? Do I need an adaptor, or what? I found an EFI motor for VERY cheap, and before I get it, I need to verify.

The ford crossflow would be a great motor for this vehicle. If you find you need a bellhousing or whatever, there's a wrecker here in Melbourne that has a complete G60 sitting there with a crossflow motor in it, so you would be able to get those bits (with some shipping...)

I do not believe the g60 gearbox will bolt straight onto the crossflow motor; the chance of this imo is zero.

The thing is though, you would be CRAZY to leave the 3-speed in place if you are putting in a crossflow. Put in the ford motor, then put in an easily matched gearbox and transfer case as well. All you will need is some custom mounts and some custom driveshafts. This way you can get yourself a four- or five-speed gearbox instead of the pathetic one you currently have.

Need an adapter plate for this conversion.

It is a very goos conversiom too, even with the old three speed box, as the ford motor has a similar power & torque curve to the P motor, but more of it.

Thats what I kind of figured. Oh well, I will still buy the engine, and just bolt it up to a Scout II T19/D20 with the help of a 302>T19 bellhousing and Ford T19 input shaft. Or something like that.

why not put the 345 or 392 thatr came with the t19??
