Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Went to get a wheel alignment Saturday and was told they cant do it as the tierod is seized with the TRE's and wont turn.

I have sprayed half a can of WD40 onto the ends yesterday arvo but still tight as this morning :(

Anyone got an easy way to fix this?

The only other way is use an oxy.

The problem with this is it may burn any rubbers that are close by. You could always wet a rag and cover them which would help prevent them getting to hot though.

I don't really see you having much to loose anyway.

Remove the tierod and place the thread section on an anvil. Tap it with a hammer right arround to break the rust seal.

hang off the arm with a pipe wrench (stilson) and have someone banging where the threads for the tie rod ends are with a hammer to see if it'll loosen up and turn.. can try it with a bit of leverage too (long pipe over handle of stilson)

but be careful, you can pop the joints out if you force it too much

try not to heat any steering compmnent / use two hemmers and hit the sleeve from either side at the same time to free up the rust seal

Can you get it to turn at all? Get them out of the car and hold the rod in the vice very tight, squirt wd40 in the crack and wiggle the TRE's back and forth as much as you can and try to work the wd40 into the thread working it back and forth until you can feel that it will do a full turn and then out they should come, use never seize when reinstalling.

You have taken the clamps off havent you?

Also use a shifter around the neck of the TRE to turn it dont lever on the pin.

your wasting your time with WD40, get some proper penetrant... ie INOX
wurth have a product called "rost off ice" which claims to spray out at -40c has helped me at work more than once when heat cant be used

Havent had a chance yet will have to wait until the weekend..

I might take the whole thing off with rode ends and see how i go and yes will be greasing it with no sieze grese before re-assembly.
