LS1 suitability

Hey Guys,
here in the UK, finding generalised info regarding Chevy LS1 motors is pretty difficult.
I am considering buying a s/hand motor from the US from a camaro SS- stock it has about 335bhp and comes with an autobox.
are these motors suitable for 4wd use? are their oil starvation issues? what are the torque characteristics like? Are the g/boxes usually supplied with these boxes adaptable for a t-box? I will be using an LT230 from a range rover as teh t-box.
Injection control isn't an issue (will use Megasquirt which is pretty much waterproof) but how does the rest of the engine hold up to a good dunking in water?
Is their a drivetrain which could be used right out of the box which would have a useable T-box in it- so a drivetrain out of a US 4x4 or something similar?
thanks for any help or advice you guys can provide.
Jim
