I'm about to buy some second hand genuine Nissan 4.6:1 R&P gears out of a 2.8 GU. The bloke has them out of the housing, sitting on his workshop bench. Is there a way I can visually identify them first as, 4.6:1 ratios, & second as genuine Nissan items & not aftermarket { as far as identifing ratios, I would think a teeth count on R&P gears would be a good way}

I posted a pic of a low ratio H260 -- subject was 'BIG DIFF' with crownwheel with markings etched on it. The H233B also has the same numbers etched on its Crownwheel. The higher number is the number of crownwheel teeth--the smaller number is the number of pinion teeth. Divide Crownwheel number by pinion number to get the ratio..

Thanks fella's, That works a treat, I counted the teeth on crown wheel & pinion gears, [ 37 & 8 respectivly ] & divided 37 by 8 = 4.625. I'm happy
