so i was looking at getting a new one, what would be a better choice, mechanical or electrical and also what are some good brands?

I just bought a speco mech tem guage and a voltmeter.

I put the temp sender in a boiling saucepan and it read 98 degrees. Close enough I figure.

The voltmeter was +/- 1 volt everytime I disconnected it. It also jumped at the voltage decreased so I'll take it back and get something else.
