The only assistance that I can give is to try Pirate and search. I have found plenty of info on hilux hyrdo assist there. Mine should be completed this weekend. Oh and by the way, it ends up costing more than you think.

Fittings $200
Ram $25
Cooler $100
Filter $10?
Labour to tap box $40
Heim joints for ram $50

OK here's a bit more detail of where I am currently at with my hydro assist......

After researching on Pirate and talking to a few others (BJ, CORE, Cheezy) I found out a few things. With a hilux powersteering pump you cannot run larger than a 2" bore ram or else the response is too slow. Even a 2" bore is only really good for trail use only rigs. The better option is a 1 1/2" bore. I then rang around heaps of places to find a ram that would suit. I ended up settling on one from a hydraulics place for $200. I had this all lined up and they were going to drill and tap my box for me as well. Then I started talking to Rod Dirt on a Logan Nite Run and he mentioned how he had got one from a forklift dealer for cheap. So I started visiting them. I found out that a sideshift ram would be about the same size which helped as I now had something to ask for. I ended up at the same place Rod got his from and got one for 1 bottle of Burbon.

Although I was looking for a 1 1/2" bore x 6" stroke all they had was 1 1/4" (although I didn't know that at the time for sure) x 8" stroke. Stroke wasn't a problem as it had to be destroked anyway.

I got the local Enzed to tap my box for $70 incl fittings and that's where I left it until this weekend. On Sat I spent $$$$$$ on fittings and today I welded up the mounts. Unfortunately one fittings was incorrect so I couldn't finish it today but I will soon.

The info that I learnt whilst researching was that the fluid will get hot and the more fluid the better. To get more fluid in the system, I ran the filter and cooler and may be changing to a larger resiviour. The more fluid your system has, the lower the speed at which it will be cycled thus reducing temps. The cooler benefits speak for themself and is probably a good idea in any serious 4x4.

I have run with my welded front a number of times and never had any steering problems whilst other hilux's that have been with me have had their fluid boil. Mine was the only one with an adequate cooler.

Sorry for the long post but I'm not going to go back and edit so if it doesn't make sence :finger:

EDIT: Changed some incorrect info that I had posted
