Hi guys thanks for the welcome.
The fact is tech on engins I'm not but I will get all the details of what he used dont know the boost or thwe power ratings. The mod was done before I got the bug just took it fore one ride and the turbo was fitted from dealer to his house. I can say this much it needs a 6th gear runs out on reves like nothing
. give me I few days and Ill get you the specks the guy is on holy in south africa. have had no gearbox trouble to date but did destroy a cv in one week ( to many wheelies had to get rid of the patern of the hankooks to fit my coopers)
As for the diff it is going to work like a visious coupler ( air actuator) Im doing the rear first as it works out to NZ$1600 so dont have it at the moment. this way it never strip the diff and cant destroy the locker it works on ball bearings that jam on each other. if things go wrong the bearing slip over each other not breaking the driveshaft. I have seen his 4x4 wich is used for serious shi.. and it gets abused still going strong. He makes it to fit in the original diff so all fitings are standard apartr from the actuator snd locking arm on the outside. I should get it back tomorow and then I will go give it some bashingan let you guys know how it went.
Should be nice and wet its pis..ng down.
Wil take some photos soon and post it. what do you guys get on fuel consumption?
cheers

I have mentiond it, the cost for the rear is NZ$1600 fitted. Got my bug back this morning and went for a play at raly woods for those of you who know this area. great fun the bog was deep and the gettin stuck in abundance, for the first time I did not get stuck but did damage a fender and headlight damnd snoty downhill. the bug just whould not stop sothe tree did the work for me. I have no price for the front but was assured it is posible. I wil ask for a quote on the front and if he is interested in building a few more to have shiped over to Great land of Oz. I have noticed somewhere that cracked manufaults is a problem on the ferozas have you had any problems regarding this. Someone asked about the turbo it is set to 2.75 to 1 what ever that might mean and it is a mazda mx5 turbo. when I spoke to the guys this morning he said to think of it as a blower rather than a turbo as it comes on at 900 rpm and limited to 6200 rpm. If the compretion is higher the head would crack du to uneven heat. does that make sens. like i said when it comes to engins I get other people to do it for me.
Think I found the reason why my consumption is so high: It seems loke the black box on my "efi" has had a swiming leson or two. Anabody have a spare lying arround. For those of you looking for snorkle I might have a sulution: Give me a week or so as I had my budy draw up a plan and he is going to try and manufacture one. I asked for stainless but I am sure metal wil be good aswell. I will scan the plan and dimentions asap. It will look like a standard part as it gets a fals cover over the pipe next to the vender so there will bw no sighn of an opening between the body and the pipe. well it looks good on paper. It wil cost arround $200 to manufacture

G'Day All,
hey Simply PV - The Oz Rocky Detroits are hardly gold - when I was originally talking to the Oz Distributers of the Detroits for the Feroza Locker they had sold over 200 Rocky Lockers - & had a total of 3 inquiries for Feroza ones.....including me !!
They had experimented with one & actually made it - it was the one that was in the Feroza for Sale thread just recently, but said they couldn;t make it work & were not going ahead with it. I was close again with the Lokka guys ( actually was going to ship my Feroza Diff to them so they could develop it ) but they canned the idea again in favour of the Live Axle Rocky Locker which I am sure you can still buy.
Once again I came close with Dobbin Engineering who was going to make me a custom locker - this would have been as strong as a Detroit Locker but even better design for A$1200 ( about US$800 at the moment - was US$600 back then !! ) with a minimum of 5 orders - do you think I could ever get 5 people willing to lay down A$1200 all at the same time ?? Nope - strike 3
In the end - I'm glad I didn't.....if you want a Feroza ( US Rocky ) Locker then either Lincoln Lock it for A$120 ( best A$120 you will ever spend ) or do a Toyota rear 8" Axle swap.
Especially in the US - if you couldn't do a Toy 8" Axle swap with 5.29 gears, lock right diff Lock & brake adaptors to run Daihatsu wheels ( or the Stud convertors like Murray suggested the other day ) for less than US$600 then I will eat my hat
Then you have stronger diff, stronger axles, easily obtainable locker, etc etc.
Just my $0.02 - take it or leave it.

Actually - I'm sure the Dobbin Engineering Offer still stands. Haven't spoken to Glen for a while but I think he still does Patrol Lockers.
The price may have gone up a bit but I would say that for around A$1300 - A$1400 ( US$800 - US$900 ) he would be willing to make some up - same deal though - it would be a minimum of 5 units with money up front
Any Takers ?????
