Has anyone fitted one of these asian eBay HID light kits to their driving or headlights?
For those that have, what is your feedback.
Thanx

I have fitted a set into a set of Cibie Super Oscars. H1's. All I can say is just do it. You will not regret it. The quality of the light and the light output is fantastic. I doubt you will ever want to use standard globes again.

I got a set of Xenovision 42 watters from ebay. about 330 delivered from memory. 6000 K which seems to give a good light, very white and gives very good definition of objects etc. Some people say they prefer around 4500 K. I have not used those so cant comment.

Ive fitted 3 sets. All from Ebay
Headlights (H7) 5000k
and fogs (H1)4300k
Did initially try 6000k but no good on wet bitumen, too blue (and not legal AFAIK)
Very happy. Been 18months now, used daily, no problems.

The ones I am bidding on come in either 4300K or 6000K. Based on what you said, and google , I think I'll put the 4300's into my Hella Rallye 4000's. Please comment if you think it will be too yellow.
Thanx

I think you'll find the true colour temperature of ya rallye 4000's as they stand now would be only around 3400K, so no, not to yellow at all.

Cant go wrong. Best thing you'll ever do.
HID's are illegal in ya headlights if ya headlights are not desiged for them, ie HID's in GQ, GU, 80 and 100 series for exampe are all illegal. Adjust your lights correctly (anti dazzle them) and you shouldnt have a problem with the RTA or highway police though.
Had a set in me GU headlights now for over 12 months...
As far as I have researched, *anything goes* is quite ok in your spot lights as long as they are used for 'off road purposes only'. Read those words, and then use them on road...
On aussie ebay, you'll only find 35 watters and the occasion 42 watter from the bloke in Brisbane. Search ebay in the UK and US you'll find the occasional 50 watt kit.
About to import a bunch of ISO9001 50 watt 5000k H3 bulb HID kits. They even come in their own aluminium suit case (which could be used for your first aid kit or a camera / video case for example).
Should be fairly reasonable in price, ie, should be cheaper than those 42 watt kits on ebay. Will post when they arrive. Hell, I might even be able to do a deal for fellow outerlimiters.
For other 50 watt kits, can always give Steve a ring at On4toU mobile: 0427 209 885
or John at
www.BitDistribution.com.au
Do a bit of a search and you'll find quite a few threads on HID talk already. I've been meaning to grab a list of them all, but have not yet got aroud to it.

Dunno when they finished up over the weekend but there were two genuine OEM Hella HID kits on there "buy now" for $150.00 each.
Cant really go much wrong with that name.
Philips start at around $1150.00 for a kit, and go up...
I saw that their 50 watt kits are over $2000.00 each. Sure, there is a bit of quality in that, but me thinks that a lot of that 2 grand is just buying the brand name.
