I am pretty new 4wding and need some advise for my 92 sierra in brisbane.
What is the best tyre to run (Without fouling on leaves or gaurds)
FYI, Will be doing 2 inch body and 2 inch leave lift.
Can i run 31/10.5's???
What rim offset is best?
How hard is it to move diffs to outer side of leaves? Do you need special parts or is it easy?
Sorry for sounding stupid,
Thanks Jason

if your talkin about SPRING OVER (diffs underneath springs instead of ontop) it is not legal in queensland

I rang Qld transport modifiaction hotline and they said it would be ok as long as wheel travel did not get extended more than 1/3rd

I'll have a crack at this...
Since it's a 92, we know that it is a leaf sprung widetrack... Since you are talking 31x10.5" tyres, I'm going to assume that you are buying some 6" or 7" rims to go with them (as that would be the expected minimum rim width for the tyre as determined by the manufacturer)... With these factors in mind, i'm going to have an educated guess and say that you will want between 2.5 and 3" of backspacing at a maximum if you want to avoid the springs at full steering lock. Anything more than that and i think you will start tagging the springs quite a bit.
You may be able to get the tyres to fit using a regular ROHII 6 or 7" rim, but i still think some additional offset will be required. Maybe a set of f100 type rims would do.
As for body clearance, a 31" tyre will basically clear the body of a sierra with a 2" body lift and minor body seam neatening under the wheel arches. You will also need to remove the side mounts for the front bumper.
Note: If you do not do a body lift or spring over, the biggest tyre you will be able to run without any rubbing will be a 235x75x15... (i.e. 28.5"), but don't get these because they are way too small.
And as Redzook has stated - Spring Over conversions seem to be illegal / near impossible to get certified in QLD.
Cheers,
Greg

Apparently, even if you get it engineered in QLD, the cops are all over you.
I'm running 2 inch BL and 2 inch springs with 31 x 10.5's with no problem

What backspacing are you running uphiir? Are your tyres kept off the springs at full lock?

f1oo rims. The 31's I'm running are a AT, if I run a MT I think the lugs will hit on full lock

G'day jason, you can grab my grubby old rims off me for a couple of cartons of xxx bitter - dont know the off set but, so they knock ya springs on full lock. In fact before ya do we can chuck on the rims and tyres and go for a run with your mate when you lift the car. just so ya know whats its like on the gearing / revs.
ps will come over and show ya my jeep soon, probable with dave too.
