Diesel converts for XJ or ZG

Hey people,
Just wanting to know if anyone in OZ has done a GOOD (and I mean good) diesel engine conversions to an XJ or preferably ZG.
I have a ZG grand at the moment (as some of you have probably worked out) but is masive on the juice but I like most of the rest of the car.
I read on a US site about an Isuzu light truck engine that was a bit of a bugger to make work by the sound of it but now its working is pretty good from the sound of it.
So is there any known good converts that you guys know of or are there any not so good ones that could be better.
Im after economy of 10lt/100km or better as thats what the disco gets on a long haul but thats turning into more of a tractor than a family tourer.
Im not really interested in LPG as the range is also an issue where there is no LPG available in a lot of places we travel and I hate carrying jerry cans where I can help it.
Id appreciate any info or even ideas I could work on.
Thanks
