Electronic chips...

Firstly, apologies if this matter has been done to death, tried the search thingy & couldn't find much relating to my veh & it's towing requirements. That could simply mean that this old fart has no bloody idea of how to enter search criteria properly.

Looking for pro's & con's on electronic chips... DTRONIC & DPCHIP... as an aid to towing economy & increasing torque at lower revs.
Have an 05 TDLC (manual) towing a 20' (6m) Coromal, tandem axle off road (dirt road) capable full caravan. Fully loaded the van will weigh in the vicinity of 2.5t.
Initially considered the dieselgas concept but the killer there is the additional weight factor of the gas canister/s & from what I've been able to read so far on these chips, they could do the same job as the dieselgas but without the rebate now being offered by the guvmint.
Anyone used/using these currently on a similar vehicle?
Obviously I'm looking for assistance at the diesel pump as well as low down torque for starts in hilly/awkward locations.
