Outer Limits 4x4 Board

my old man owns a 99 4.6 v8 rangie .He took it up the beach on friday all went good ,got it home and the air bags had problem going down (didnt think anything of it) sat he went to take it somewhere and the bags wouldnt pump back up ,so he cracked the shits and took his other car . On sunday he calmed down and decided to take it for a drive to find out the problem , he got it to the end of the street and it clunked realy loud and come up with a gear box light so he tryed to turn it around thats when the car through the alt light on and died now the car wont do anything . Anyone had the same problem ? Could it be something to do with battery or alt. and playing game with the computer ?
any help would be good as he doesnt want to send it sydney on a tow truck

You would have to suspect the battery eveything fail at once, I have seen the gearbox error come up when the battery is low
