Hi everyone,
I have a NA pajero that I want to use for off road only. Is there a front diff locker avalible or is it possible to weld the diff ?
Any comments are welcome- any drawbacks to this ?

I think that there is a lock diff for the front of your paj. Definately dont weld it, if your in the goop and wana turn with a weld diff you will end up god knows where. A lokka will unlock when your turning to avoid any problems. This will ultimately save you twisting axles etc etc

An autolocker (Detroit/Lockrite/Lokka) unlocks when one wheel is ground-driven at a higher speed than the other - i.e. the outside wheel on a turn. In sloppy goop there's no guarantee an autolocker will unlock when you need it to. You can get around this (sort of) by fitting manual free-wheeling hubs - but you may need to climb out in the sloppy goo to unlock one hub and get some steering.

Your NA should have a 7.5" front diff, which is too small for the ARB airlocker, and probably for any autolockers too. You need an 8" front diff from a later model, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to install into an NA. If you explore this option, try to find a high-pinion diff rather than low-pinion, as it decreases the angles on the uni-joints in the front prop-shaft.

Or not - Bitsamissin is the guru. See what he says... :D
