looking at buying a GU - advice wanted

Post by whiteknight »

Hi all,

Am looking at getting a GU patrol and know absolutely nothing about them. Want to keep it to under $20k.

Was wanting to go Turbo Diesel but I think i may have to settle for Petrol and due to pricing of the diesels..

What sort of economy figures on 4.5l petrol?
How do they run with LPG?

Anything to keep a look out for when checking them out - rust spots, motor wise etc?

Are they all 7 seaters? or just some models?

How easy are they to lift a bit to fit 35's on?

That should about do it for now...

well i just filled up 38l after driving 200k around town so 19l/100 isnt too bad i spose.
to fit 35s you will need 3inch suspension lift and the correct offset rims to have no problems.
i think all are 7seaters except for the DX models

thanks for that..

What are the motors like in these things? Is 175,000km's a lot of K's for a 4.5 petrol?

If you happen to get the opportunity to consider a Turbo Diesel, be cautious of the early 3.0l ones. There are plenty of posts on here about them self destructing just out of warranty with low K's.
