might need to see what type of uhf you have

in my zook, i had a detachable face uhf...
put the face part of it where the ash tray was (i obviously removed it)

Depends on driving style as well.

I have mine on a bracket on the tranny tunnel but dont recommend it there if u like mud or water.

Other spots i have seen are:

as above in ashtray
cut panel out of dash and mount in dash.
behind custom centre console as i am doing.
roof console.

Tell us the model and of course you go the bracket with it?
If you look at the pics in the rigs section you will get some great ideas

Ive had to put mine in the glove box as the motor is about 2-3" forwarder then usual, resulting in me having to carve away the bottom of the centre dash just so I dont smack me knuckles in 1,3, and 5.

There is still enough room to get ya fingers to the bonnet release, but, if the UHF is bigger then mine (Uniden something), you could re-position the bonnet release.
