Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Just a question for you guys... hope it makes sense cos i don't know the proper terms....

1stly I have a '90 vitara 3dr carb power steering manual hubs

There is play in my front drivers wheel. I can wobble the wheel top-bottom and side-side.
When i take the wheel off and i can wobble the break disc (and studs etc where the wheel attach)
The A Arm and strut etc do not move, and the cv joint/axle don't seem to move. it makes no difference having the hub locked/unlocked.

Any ideas anyone?

Someone once mentioned something about a bronze bush the wears out in the front hub somewhere??

Sounds like a wheel bearing.

or the nut that holds the bearings in and your wheel on is loose
i would have a look at it ASAP

I've just fixed the same problem on my vitara.
With mine, i had water in the bearings, which destroyed them, but also the hub that the bearing case sits in had worn out. (most probably due to running 31's)

If that is also the problem, as well as worn bearings, i found it to be cheaper to go to a wrecker and get a complete assembly with the bearing not removed.

Should cost ~$150 to fix, if doing the work yourself. (Replacing both front bearings)

Remeber that buying a second hand bearing is really just buying trouble. If your wheel bearings are stuffed, replace them with new ones. Might cost more, but much safer and will last longer. Coming from personal experience, collapsed wheel bearings at speed are not fun.
