I'm going to gues it's probably the 1.8 out of a Hiace van or Tercel I looked into to getting one a while back but it was hard to gurantee the quality through a jap engine importer because of the low numbers then, but would be a great engine

go on DirtPigs, buy it ....BUY IT!!! do it do it
maybe for $4000 it'd be ok, does it look like a soft top sierra that's been chopped up with a custom tray, and fibreglass roof/back?
mmm diff lock would be $500 worth?
No dents? (has it never been 4x4ing?)
I dont think i'd feel comfortable trashing that one.
86 model...gettin old for $5000?

I am really tempted but I have a few logistical probs...
1. I am in Hong Kong until late Dec.
2. It is in QLD and I will be in NSW when I get back and I will be run off my feet when I get back....
It looks like a little ripper to kick off with for a project zook.

I would consider buying it if I could get up to see it...

If that is the Tercel or Hiace Turbo deisel then a dual case set up is easy as to set up.You use the 4wd gearbox from one of these vehicles which has the T-case attached but has a left hand output which can then be used for a PTO drive. Then run the stock suzuki T-case behind it as well.
That is cheap as if it is complied.
Anyone know where in Bris Quality Car Finders is?

Tony, Rob has offered to check it out for me tonight / tomorra.
If it is as good as it sounds, I am dead keen to buy the bugger. Would be a perfect DD for me and I have the $$$ ready now. I need a DD as soon as I get back to Oz.

Apparently the stock gemini 1.8L diesel puts out about 40kW and 105 N.m... It would be sweet if the turbo boosts that up to 70hp (53kW) & approx 180N.m
for comparison... carburated 1324cc, 4 cylinder, 4-stroke, 64HP (48kW) , 100N.m
TE Diesel Gemini 5 sp gearbox had the M76 designation. I'm still trying to find out what the gearbox ratios were.

Awesome JK. Hope it checks out and that you get a bargain. Hell I'd buy it.

I don't want to sound critical but weren't the Gemini deisels the worst deisel ever made. I drove one once and you could have pushed the car quicker.
I think Keltek in the USA make a conversion kit to fit the 1.6 turbo deisel golf moters in sierra's.
I looked into it a little but you can't get the motors in AUS.
I hope I haven't killed everyone's excitment.
