Is there such a thing as a torch fitting that hooks onto a normal bbq cylinder? Got a nasty difficult bolt rusted into a steel sleeve and the only thing left to try is heeeat.

You can get them for the little hand-held bottles. Try local hardware store

yep, i think you can still buy them. they also have a soldeing attachment. i would think anywhere that sells oxy/accetalene torchs will have them. not to sure if a hardware diy store would stock em.

my spotter (O*N*E) has a torch that attaches to a BBQ cylinder. they use it to warm up asphalt. the flames are pretty big though so it would heat up a lot of surround area as well.
can u just heat it over a stove?

have you tried hitting it with an air chisel?

A little torch that screws onto throw away gas bottle (about the size of a spray can).
I got mine at Bunnings and have used it for seperating stuck suspension parts and plumbing, etc.
They are fairly cheap and last a while too.
Cheers Struth.

Benzomatic come in yellow and blue bottles. One of yellow ones have adjustable settings.

All of the ones mentioned, I have come across before.
It there one available that screws straight into a BBQ bottle?
I would be nice to standardize to one so there not 1/2 a dozen different gas bottles floating around the shed.

Jason, you're not thinking laterally here.
Move the stove outside - that's where real Aussies cook anyway.

Well, as it happens, I have used my bbq to heat stuff before - got one with one of those baking/roasting type hoods and it fits large metal objects under the hood pretty easily.

Mmm, but what is the go there? It has no fitting at all that I can see... what is it meant to connect to?

Yeah I dont know why they dont show it in the pic but my old man has one exactly like that with a fitting that screws straight onto a standard LPG bottle port. The nozzle has a regulator on it and you just light it with a cig lighter. Works great. I'm pretty sure he bought it at a camp shop or hardware type outlet a few years ago.

Hmm, camp shop sounds like a good idea to check out, I might have a look tomorrow. I no longer need it (grinder fixed the problem), but it's something I have often wished I had in the workshop.

i often see telstra vans with these, next time u see the blokes under the funny little tent in the pouring rain, borrow it
note: i dont condone stealing of course....
i also have one of the small benzomatic style blow torches described and it has lasted atleast 8 years and is about 1/2 empty, its created for silver soldering copper pipes etc, and u can get a range of tips for them. They also arent that expensive IIRC

I have one that's made to fit a primus fitting that has a narrow burner tip, a soldering tip that fits this, and a wider heating tip. This unit coupled with a primus to POL adapter would do the job for you.

yes
dad has one, has a 1m hose and a nice big oxy size torch handle. The flame isnt really that big but i think he has different nozels he can put on it, only ever seen him use it for soldering and melting paint.
The one he has he got from a gas/welding shop. I think BOC

I got one of the blowtorches that screw onto a butane cylinder, the same cans which you run the portable stoves on.
It lives in my toolbox and is very portable, and the butane refills are cheap and last for ages. It cost under $20.
I cant find a pic of my type...
This is one DSE has, althought you just refill the base with butane... rather than change the cartridge.

You can get LPG gas axes and torches/fittings from CIG or BOC outlets. There should be something to connect to a bque bottle surely.

Rays outdoors had them last time i looked, attached to a barbie bottle and came with a few different attachments for the nozzle.
Personally ive got the adjustable bernzomatic mapp gas (yellow bottle) torch, works really well.
