I was wondering what spares you guys think are essential to carry for a Disco1 (200TDi) on an extended trip?

well, spare belt(s) to start with plus filters and hoses and some top up oils maybe (depending on access to servos), wiper blades....

as mentioned, plus brake pads and pins (go to a wrecker and get a 2nd hand set for almost nothing), waterpumps are handy, shockie bushes, wheel bearing kit plus grease, wheelnuts, fencing wire duct tape and cable ties.

As mentioned, plus an assortment of bolts, electrical wire and connectors, hub oil seals plus a can of brakekleen.
Also: replace the silly plastic plugs in the cooling system with brass ones (available from Maxi-drive and other sources). And make sure the timing belt is has been replaced at the appropriate intervals.

Good point about bearings and seals. Best place to get them is Rover Parts, they have the best seals (Corteco) or quivelent which work better than the standards ones, and the prices are and service are very good.
Can get the belts and other stiuff there too.
