Tyre air pressures.

I have just got some new mud tyres (RT01 Hankook 215\75\15), and the tyre place put in about 30psi of air in each. Now my question is, if i am going out for a day 4wding, at what pressures can i run a tyre before it would realistically come of the rim. Would i be incorrect in saying around 15-16psi? I just don't want them to blow off, but given I finally ahve some decent tyres for the first time in my life, I would like to use them effectively.

you could go lower, maybe to 12psi, remember that suzuki factory pressure is only 20psi, though I know no one who does this. I think 15-16 psi would be a good starting pressure for general offroading.

Leave them a bit harder until they have had time to "stick" to the rim.

When I ran 29's I found 12 for extreme, 15 for hard, 20 for easy, and 25 on road worked for me.
30 will be better for tyre life, and steering, but will be a little harsh ride.

Just be sure not to force turn in ruts, and drive easy when turning, and they should stay on. Assuming rims are good.

just my opinion, theres no right answer, experiment to find what suits you.

yeh basically have a bit of an experiment and just go with how bagged the tyre looks under ful weight of vehicle. I run my 30" MTRS at 22psi on road. Offroad have had them at 12 no probs but usually run 14 to be safe.

I used to run 31's at about 10psi off road 20-25psi onroad.

Now with 35's I run 20psi on road and around 3psi offroad in the rears and 5psi+ in the front as I haven't got power steering hooked up yet.

Never rolled a tyre off the bead.

With the light weight of a zook you can go down to 10psi with no dramas.
Just depends on the situation though.
If you are rock hopping and tackling stuff that will see you posibly sliding sideways and pushing on the sidewall thaen run them a bit harder 12-15 maybe.
On sand just drop them straight down to 10 but be carefull if doing donuts and flicking up sand for photo ops is your thing :).

I have had the BFG's at 35 psi on road and off road tried 12 psi which in the mud and bog holes gave me heaps of traction but leaking front beads
I have now gone to 18psi.
One time at band camp (sorry)
One time I ran 8psi only cause they leaked to that at the Otways and in the mud they were great but steering was very heavy....
And before I really knew what I was doing(still dont) I ran offroad 35psi very harsh ride.....

My Kumo's I use 34 if Im carrying a heavy in the back(its a ute) 24 on the road, 15 when I lock the front hubs, and 10 for the really hard stuff.
But my brother poped his MTR's off his Sportage mag wheels when he dropped them to only 24psi. So the rim seat can play a big part. Ive got speedy steel rims.
Funny how everyone user's psi.
