Listen to YankeeDave he is right. Get an air locker. It will cost you the more when you have to take the auto 'crap' locker out and replace it with an Airlocker anyways.

man it all depends on what he is doing with his truck for me im pilling vehicles of stockton beach that their owners have ruined and an auto locker is fine not interested in competitons or running over 33 inch tyres as they are ileagal regardless of weather you have had them engineered
the laws are hard set and if it comes down to an insurance claim you will have problems and as mines is my work vehicle i cant afford that but for me an auto locker was easy to fit and cheap at 300 and hell it makes all the diference.

Im not goign into the auto V airlocker debate.

I dont plan on running bigger than 33 for a while, i would how ever like to have a locked front end, its less than 300 to buy when im over there so even if its crap it hasnt cost me much at all. and i still may end up getting a detroit for the front, my brother in law has some mates in the biz

If anyone is selling an airlocker for a GQ front for that price tell me but i dont think they are, all i want to know is what size i had to get from them.

Hey Tim

I put the Powertrax Lock Right #3210 into the front diff of my '93 Maverick. I paid $US277 for it a year and a bit ago.
I purchased it from

Hope that helps

Don't listen to all the arguements regarding auto locker vs air locker. I sell and fit Powertrax lockers. I also fit many, many ARB Airlockers as well as the TJM (McNamarra) Prolockers.

It is definately 'horses for courses'. One of my Customers has a GQ with 7" lift, 36" tyres, 4.66 diff gears, auto locker in the front & LSD in the rear. He has successfully competed in 'non timed' competition events (Australian Short Course Championship) for years with no problems. It can sometimes be an advantage to have an auto locker in the front - it depends on the vehicle, the driver and the situation.

If your heart or wallet is set on an auto locker - just make sure that you get a reputable brand. Powertrax Lockright - now owned by Richmond Gears - or Detroit Easy Locker are the 2 most reputable brands - both out of the U.S.A.

I agree with Bowtie Landie. I have run auto lockers and air lockers and the auto lockers were great. If ya can't afford an air locker go for it. An auto locker is better than no locker.
