Have a search for the Chinese winch thread, i think it was SA 4x4 have an online mag they did a comparison on them V warn and some others. the general thought was better to save up for a warn that wont let you down, when you need it most.

I'm running a T-Max 11,000 winch and have been for a while now. I havn't been able to stop it yet.
I used it constantly for about 2 hours (only stopped for repositioning) one afternoon pulling a 4wd out of a sand bog where a creek had gave way. The 4wds front end was under sunk really badly in sand and water so it was copping a hard workout.
So they are very reliable and pull very hard for long periods. I'm also running the cordless remote which makes it even better.
I have photos of the recovery too. LOL
Cheers Mick.

My reading of that article by SA was that there are two or so winches that whilst being ostensibly the same as the chinese ones were vastly different in the quality of the parts specified by the company getting them manufactured, and so therefore substantially better than the standard cheap chinese ones, and quite good winches.
From memory, T-Max was one of them, as was Ironman the ones I've been thinking about.
Considering how rarely I'd use one, especially with front and rear lockers, I wouldn't buy the real carp chinese ones, but the T-Max or Ironman that are made from better parts, seemed to be more than adequate for my needs.

I've got as Tmax 9500 and tried to single line pull a dual cab lux out of mud which was past the sill. It wouldn't do it (of course) but did not burn out so I had to do a double pull to get out. Thats a good test and its still going strong.
I know a few guys who have bought the cheaper winchs and theirs are all dead now. One only lasted three pulls on a Vitara.

yep just because they look like a t max don't mean they are , redlands 4wd has pulled 1 of the cheaper ones apart to find all the gears etc worn out. None of the repco or any other who flung dung chinese trash will go the distance.

Yea the ox winch is the best, most powerfull, fastest winch in the world. You can winch for 10 hours straight and it wont get hot like the t-max.
