Vitara carby snorkel..Any performance gain??

Post by finners »

Tryin to warm up my carby swb Vitara a little.

Already put UNI FILTER air filter in stock cleaner box, new plugs, 9mm leads(a bit of a wank I know, but i work in a spares shop), new cap, new rotor, thoroughly carby cleaned carby.

Now I'm thinking of a snorkel for better air flow, but not sure whether it is a waste of time as a performance mod. I'm mainly using my Vit 4 beach drivin with the odd dapple in the bush, no river crossings or massive mud holes, so I've no need to lift the intake for water reasons, purely performance.

So am i wasting my time and money???

Or have any of you carby guys noticed performance gains after intalling snorkel???

Why not bolt an EFI head on to it? Im pretty sure its been done before. Instant power gains.

As to your question, the "ram" effect from a snorkel would only be noticeable at speed and even then, be pretty negligible. Thats only my opinion however.

Using a snorkel combined with a 6/71 blower and a 100hp shot of NOS should see a performance gain, another option could be using a snorkel and a Toyota Soarer quad cam V8 however with this option a few other mods may be required

Good Luck
