I just traded in my old GQ for a 1998 gu st 4.5. Do these come with an alarm standard? I have a remote with no writing on it with two buttons, and from what i can see, one button arms/disarms the alarm and the other button just seems to set the alarm off every time i press it. Is this some sort of panic button?

Is it hard to make the central locking into remote central locking? I installed remote central locking into my gq myself but im worried about all the electics this has.

Also the hinge on the large barn door (the hinge just above the bottom hinge), moves and clunks very loundly, is this a common problem?

My power antenna doesnt seems to do anything when i press the button on the dash, is there a fuse for this? There is an after market cd/dvd player in it so maybe the power antenna has been disconnected?
thanks

the antenna switch is for making the antenna go half way up or all the way up when the sterio is turned on

I can hear the motor for the antenna working but the antenna is still stuck down.

Antenna, probably stuffed. Heaps of cheap aftermarket replacements available. Should be easy enough to pull it out for an inspection,

My GU ST has a remote that only activates the central locking, no factory alarm on mine.

Rear door, mine also does the same. As a note there is an aftermarket retainer available that allows the door to open out a little more providing better access to the cab. Can't remember who makes it though.

I had that problem on another car - I could pull up the aerial by hand though; can you do that? I went to an autoelec get it fixed but after a couple of days it broke again. Went back to the same autoelec for several months on and off but he never fixed it for more than a couple of days and it broke again. In the end I got sick of going back to him and didn't want to spend any more money going to someone else; so I've left mine as is - I just pull it up by hand.

I think he said the problem was the mast and cable?

BTW, the reason he couldn't get it fixed properly was that the genuine parts are no longer available and aftermarket suppliers don't make them?? Anyway, I won't be going back to him - I had a couple of other problems 'fixed' at the same time and 6 months later they're all back to the way they were!! I did take one other problem back to him after it failed 2 months after he fixed it, but it failed again not long after...

Like I said, this was another make of vehicle but sounds like the problem might be the same (i.e. the mast and cable)
