Need a turbo manifold for TB42

Ok i ahve decided to have a go at turboing my TB42e.

I just bought a Garrett T3/t4 BB turbo with a T3 flange and need a manifold to bolt it on to.

I just got a quote for a custom manifold and it was $1200. As much as i want it i cannot pay that much when the turbo cost me a lot less!!

Does anyone else make "Good" manifolds to suit? Some of the diesel manifolds look like they would flow pretty crap, although some look better then others. Also which manifold sites further away from the firewall?

Once again thanks for the help in advance!!

what are you expecting for a custom made manifold? $20.00?
Why does it matter what you paid for the turbo to compare to the manifold?

maybe sell your turbo, and go out and buy a complete kit.

Do u ever post anything constructive? That doesnt help me at all.

$2200 is way to much for me at this stage. My forst quote of $1200 seems pretty good now. If i buy a kit they usually come with a standard cast manifold and it works out a lot more.

Is the custom manifold worth the extra $$$ compared with a half decent cast diesel manifold? I dont expect a good manifold to be $20 and i dont have to have a custom one made up, just something better than a log style diesel one.

can you answer the questions?

it was pointing out that not everything is as cheap as you expect.. Yes custom made shit is expensive.

so it wouldnt be later? I think it is anyday of the week.

but you have a fixed price, get EVERYTHING you need, no problems.

Kits cost around $3000+ (Turbo, dump pipe, manifold and oil lines) and still come with pretty average turbos.

I got my turbo real cheap from a mate so i'm not going to sell it so i can buy a kit and downgrade.

Ok bogged i ahve a question. Who makes a good cast manifold for my application. If u cant answer it please dont reply. Dont say "yellowpages" or any stupid comment that wont help.

Yep custom stuff is pricey. Kits are easiest to install, but not readily available for petrol motors. The diesel Turbo's are too small for petrol engines. Here's my rundown on manifolds.

There are 2 options High mount or low mount. What do you want. ?Personally i prefer high mounts.

In high mount you have,

1. Turboglide one piece cast (approx $480)
2. Denco Diesel one piece cast (approx $500)
3. Factory Nissan TD42 high mount (One is listed on parts as high mount)
(approx $800)
4. maybe more but dont know of any

In Low mount you have,

5. AXT 2 piece cast price ?
6. MTQ one piece cast (approx $500)
7. JPC 2 Piece cast (approx $770 + dump casting if req)
8. Factory Nissan low mount TD42T **Forgot to add this one before**
9. maybe more but dont know of any

If you want a good quality manifold, with the turbo sitting in a good position, my suggestion is to buy a good design high mount RB20 manifold on ebay, plus an exhaust flange and have it modified and welded up. Or alternatively Fabricate a log manifold with the Turbo flange in the middle, to eliminate the need for a tight 90 deg dump pipe.

Hey bogged do you have a Denco Diesel high mount on you rig.?

Any chance for a photo of your turbo install.?

Do both the high mount and low mount have the turbo right near the firewall?

by raptorthumper
In short No.

AXT's turbo kit looks like its in the middle. Also be aware that some of the diesel kits use a T25 flange instead of a T3, so if you order one see if they can supply the manifold with the correct flange, as T25s are smaller bolt spacing.

yea it was high mount, GUJohnno now owns it, PM him for photos.

Problems come when you want to mount a top mount IC with them.. you cant. or the Denco wasnt going to be workable.
High mount also has shit angles for exhaust, with a 90 degree right angle on them

I'd go low mount if I was to change

what is wrong with the $1200.00 one?

"what is wrong with the $1200.00 one"

Dont worry i'm considering it now. I really want to know if it is "worth" the extra cash? For over twice the price as a turboglide or similar are they really that much better?

does anyone know that the flange patterns of these manifolds are?

By Flange pattern, do you mean Turbo Flange size.?

I know
1. Turboglide High mount is T25 std (but they will supply with T3 if requested)

7. JPC is T3 std.

Dont know other sizes.

Nizpro Enginneering did this one for a guy on fordxr6turbo.com

Looks great and is mounted fairly low and centred which is ideal.

what are they about 1.5" pipes on the nizpro?

what would it cost to buy all the mandrel bends and the flanges. Looks like it could be a fin project.

hey mate,

Maybe believe he's quite reasonably priced however saying that how about you pm me what you need flange size and everything and your location and contact number and I will speak to him on your behalf.

cheers
