How about some tech info on these things or even a link to some tech info. Its a bit hard to tell what they are made out of and how durable they are from the pic.

And how they work?
I have a engine bay mounted remote breather kit installed on mine, interesting to see what other products are around.

looks like they expand under pressure.

with too much expansion.. they'd pop right??

Bee Bee has sum for his buggy.... diffs, transfer etc.

They are very durable.... they are a Bombardier part for the quad bikes.

I guess the biggest feature is thay are cheap....

there is no chance of oil escaping in a roll over, they can't get hung up, not sure what they are made of but they are tuff. maybe 2 each diff might eliminate pressure.... dunno.

they are a hassle free alternative to the garden hose?????

I certainly like them in theory, so long as they function in real life, and last without degrading, and are tuff enuff to cope with sticks, etc.
Mind you, its always the diff ends that fail on my breather pipes.
I know not of the volumes of air that need to be moved with heating and cooling of diffs.

Pardon my ignorance but why does one need diff breathers? Are they for long water crossings or if you know you're going to do a lot of mud work etc?

What happens if you don't have them?

Cause if you take one hot diiff and dunk it in cold mud/water the air inside contracts forming a suction effect.

If you don't have breathers you get mud/water mixing in your diff oil; bad very bad.

Also allows for hot air expansion when your diff is heating from cold.

So usually how long are diff breathers and what happens if the depth of water is higher than them?

Should say "you might get mud/water..."
I have just added extended breathers to my truck. It's the first time in six year of wheeling that I have had extended breathers and haven't had a problem in the past.

It's cheap insurance to do it just in case.
