hi,

i have been lookin for another 4b. Currently we have a 1987 3.5EFI V8 4spd Auto Rangie and will be selling it soon.

Previously we had a hard top, high roof Sierra which was great.

we want something that is reasonably economical, lots of interiro room, seats at least 6 so i have arrived at the XL7 (Also lookin at NJ Paj & GQ Patty)

What do people recommend looking out for? and can i get a half decent one for under 20grand?

what is their economy like? particularly the auto. and the 2.7L?

how good offroad? we would like to go up to Fraser Island again sometime (this time enjoy is and not have 4b breaking down like the rangie did).

whats available aftermarket for them?

thanks in advance,
Shem

G'day, I have a 2001 XL7 which I am quite happy with. Fuel economy isn't a strong point especially combined with the small 66l tank. Did Fraser last year & just got 300 km's out of the tank. Get about 500 km's on the Hwy. Ome have a lift available, alloy only front bar available from TJM & TCB non winch type, no snorkel available apart from dodgy looking thing from Suzi spares ( I think), no factory LSD or diff lock available & limited to only a small tyre upgrade due to size of wheel arches.

I'm not into hardcore stuff so it does the job I ask of it & hasn't missed a beat, is great size for around town, but if I was shopping for another vehicle I would look for someting a little larger and with more aftermarket support.

Cheers,
