I check't my rear diff oil and it was grey! That means that there is water in it. How did it get there? Thru the breather hose or are my seals at the side of the wheels broken?

Possibly thru both, if your running factory breathers, their shyt. Also if you like mud or water-x'ings without much maintance that'll do it. If you pull your drums apart and their not full of oil or don't have a residue then it's not your axle seals.

what happens is as your driving your diff obivously heats up when you go through a bog hole or water crossing the water cools the diffs done straight away in turn causing the hot air in the diff to contract sucking in water from where it can diff breathers axle seals so your best bet would be change your axle seals. If you have a suspension lift have you extented your breather have a look and you will figure it out not expensive to fix
