3.5ltr low comp engine running duel fuel. The vehicle hasn't been driven for a while but went to use it the other day but when it idled, then engine stopped running however when it runs on petrol, it's fine at idle.
Any ideas how to get the gas right?!!
Thanks,

This sounds like the idle for the gas as it is different for the idle adjustment for the fuel. Try and locate that and try it. The idle should be vacuum controlled on the gas so should have a pipe going to.

I'll have a look tonight.
It's also backfiring (popping) through the carbies on deceleration.....

From the sounds of it you have an idle mixture problem,
The only other things I can think of are that you may have changed you timing, have a vacuum leak or an air leak of some kind or have moved something.
Certain converters do move in and out of tune over periods of time, the Landi one in my 91 RRC does need a tweak about every 12 months on the idle adjustment - eventually they wear to the point where there is not enough adjustment in them to make the car idle properly, you need to shim the adjustment (so I have been told) I have never had to do this yet.
'More info would help, if you can't tell or read what it is - take a photo someone on here will know which one it is just by looking.

Mate of mine had this problem in an EL falcon. Replaced the throttle body and it was fine after that, don't ask me why it didn't affect petrol though. Doesn't really make sense.

I found the idel adj screw, so that sorted now but it still backfires. Not sure what brand the convertor is but heres a pic:

If it's the mixtures, how do I adj it to get things right again?!
Thanks
