1989 was the final year for local SWB trucks!
grey market imports are available, although the newest ive seen in a FZJ70 shorty was 1993 and was actually a pretty nice and rounded unit, bought for $12k on the gold coast

So Toyota brought them to OZ with the I6 oil burner before 1989?

2car, there's actually a quite a few getting round, cause that's what i'm looking at buying, all the ones that i've looked at have been between 85 and 89.

Yeah, sweet unit. I'm just window shopping, and dreaming. I guess they went from H to HZ at the same time as the rest of the Toyota fleet.

There is a 4 door one near where I live. Coil's front and rear. Runs 35 BFGs. No idea what year it is, although it is a turbo diesel and goes pretty well.

These were imports and are badged as Prado's and run 4cyl deisels i think they are 3B turbos. A import yard not far from me had about 10 of them.

SIR, put your hands above your head and step away from the crack pipe
depending on the specs, these models are powered by either a L or P series diesel, the L series is normally a 2L-t with forced aspiration coming in the form of a turbo
the P series is an interesting 5 cylinder job, which i know jack all about, except its called a 1PZ, and is basically a 1HZ with a cylinder lopped off the front (by the factory, not by bootie fab) (3.5litres too)
the 3B, especially in turbo form would tear the gearbox that comes in these to shreds, it really would kill it

This one is badged as a Landcruiser. I have seen the ones you are referring to, with the Prado badge. This one is much newer, I would guess mid to late 90's. Pretty sure the Prado's you are referring to were much older than that.

I saw one the other day and can remember commenting to Dirtpigs about it as i had never seen a prado in this shape, it was a turbo diesel.
