Does anyone no if the power steer pump will be enough to turn a 1.5" ram at the same speed as the box?,can the pump be modifed? and would the resevoir hold enough fluid?

Dude I dont know if it can push the ram or not but if the reservior is not big enough the reservior from a 60 will fit. As I had the pumps next to each other a day or so ago and they look the same I was thinking that I coul put the runners pump on the 60 as it needs topping up every now and then.
Thoughts on the ram are that once it was filled you would"nt need that much as reserve because i thought that the pump and solenoids transfered fluid from either side of the ram.

My thoughts are that the box will want to turn faster than the ram,so it will be slow turning on road,if thats the case I want to no if the pump can be modified to allow more fluid

So you need bigger lines to the ram than to the box to allow a qwicker transfer of fluid from the ram than the box.
But if it is hydro assist the one pump will be working both the box and the ram.
The lines go from the pump to the box to the ram?
If you speed up one you will speed up the other :?:

Here is another thought can you make it so that you can turn the pressure of on the ram for when you are onroad and back on when you are crawling?

Or have quick disconnect lines from the box to the ram

Instead of disconnecting them you could get a 3 way valve/solenoid that redirected the fluid to either side of the ram under no pressure and keept the pressurised fluid running between pump and box.

One bonus will be that a ram with no/little pressure will just be a steering damper

See how he has those mods for external reservior you can make one easy if you undo those 2 bolts on either side of the reservior it just pulls out with a rubber O ring around the pipe that comes out of the reservior to stop it leaking. Like a diesel lux power steering pump It has an external reservior.
They is just a vane pump (I think they is called that) they have 20 or 30 little rectanguler bits of metal that grab the oil and force it down the line.
So to increase your flow rate you would just have to drill the holes bigger and retap a thread to suit bigger lines.
Me and stretch had 3 appart a couple of weeks ago tring to get one to work.
