tossing up between the idea of a sierra.....which is cheap....but....not that appealing, or a petrol fj40, but not sure of fuel costs....
stock petrol motor? how much do they go thru per 100km? and how much does a gas conversion cost these days? you get that 2 grand rebate....but how much is the total cost of fitting one to these? then how much gas does it go thru per 100km?
any info appreciated very much!! goin to check out a zook tomorrow, and if i can get a general idea before tomorrow night i can make my desicion....
cheers all.

What sort of wheeling you into?
I have a 60 series on gas it has a 2f heaps of torque but a heavy 4by dont get me wrong it goes places.

If its a long wheelbase zook I would jump on it if you are going to mod the crapper out of it they is probably a better rock crawler.

two completly different rigs ultimatly you want both

mainly a daily driver, and a bit of weekend warrior work, as im at uni and am feeling a little broke from time to time lol, but im also 6'4.....
zook has 31s, spoa, locker, so probably about 13l to 100kish?
and the 2f would be what....bout 20? depending on the gas conversion cost....might end up about the same per 100km???

have you thought about a BJ instead of an FJ?

I reckon I get about 11-12l/100Km on mine, probably do i fraction more if you drove it easier. although diesel is more expensive than gas by a longshot.. the more regular servicing might be a bit more costly too..

i'm about 6'3 and there is plenty of room..

you can convert it to run biodiesel without too many issues..

anyway its just an idea.

The 2f would surprise you if you dont flog it I rekon i get between 13-17 per 100 but have never measured it. I run dual fuel and a 4speed but as soon as that second jet opens you can hear the fuel getting poured in.

How much you spending? If the zook is enginered I rekon you'd be paying about 4-5k and I got my 60 for 1500 heaps of extras (dual fuel, cargo barrier, touring roof rack, spare tyre carrier, strait panels not any more, minimal rust none in the roof).

I have also found that if your wheeling fuel costs are your last concern in fact they are cheap.

yeah i was considering the bj, hard to come by up this way in good condition....well.....good for a 40 series lol, but yeah, i heard if you stick 35's on them, they do better on fuel with the 2f? i would have thought the opposite... but yeah, how much is it to install gas up in qld into one of these?

Got mine done recently. Retails for around $2800. Can be found for cheaper if you shop around. Not sure on economy figures yet. I'll post up when I get an idea.

What size LPG tank did you get fitted?

went to scope a 40 out today. new box n transfer case put in. 35s. couple other things, minimal rust! haha but the motor chews a bit of oil...is that normal for a 2f? or is it something which leads to a bigger...expensive problem? lol

Oil burning may well be a symptom of valve recession - they don't like unleaded fuel (especially LPG) so budget for a head rebuild with hardened valve seats if you're going to LPG. While the head's off - it might be worth a hone & new rings - it can be done without removing the engine, and doesn't cost a lot extra..

I fitted a 90L tank, that is useable litres its a APA D90 or something i think if i can remember and i didnt want to mount it underneath as it takes up too much room so i mounted it in the rear passenger side where the rear seat normally folds down

Good stuff. I could only mount mine underneath. Biggest tank that would fit between the chassis rails is an A80 tank. 63 useable litres. I think I'm flat out getting 275 klms out of it.
