My fuel pump is just starting to leak and I was going to send it off to get reco'd, but before I shell out the $$$$ I thought I would see what other options are out there, and whats worth doing and whats not.

As I have a standard 1HZ with an aftermarket turbo, I was wondering if there is another pump that I could replace the standard one with the help deliver more fuel etc???

If you get it rebuilt get a boost compensator put on it....... it measurers the boost and delivers the correct fuel rather than the standard pump over fueling on low boost and under fueling at higher boost. You need to let the guy who does the pump know what boost you are running so he can calibrate the pump accordingly.
If you get the compensator you will get 10-30% more power depending how your car is tuned now.
I think it costs about $600 on top of the pump rebuild but it is worth every cent.

Few options, if its going ok now, put some bio fuel through it, and it may stop leaking....this swells the seals....you can also use a few drops of brake fluid in the tank...
The seal ontop of the pump can be changed without it coming off the motor... then there are the injecters....but if it is due for a service, and you want to do it properly, cooma diesel in Canberra are good...Gemini diesel in southern Sydney are good....westend in west sydney are good....so many options...

Should have been a bit clearer in my first post. I was wondering if the pump off say a 1hdt or the multivalve model will work on a 1hz, and is it worth doing, or just better to get my old pump reco'd

Plunger element from 1HZ fuel pump is 11mm, while the 1HD-T is 12mm. So using the 1HD-T fuel pump will give you a decent performance increase.

However, it may be difficult in finding a 1HD-T pump. But if you can find one at a decent price, spend the money getting it reco'd instead of your 1HZ one.
