wiring for MK patrol cd/radio

hi all this has proberly been covered previously but i cant find it with the search. i just brought a pioneer deck and just wondering what the wires are for the speakers. just want to know otherwise i have to take the door trims off to look, also need to know what the constant power and acc power wires are.

IIRC (and please correct me if I am wrong) MK/MQ's are 24 volt electrics. I wouldnt be connecting anything up if you are unsure of what you are doing. you will more than likely need a voltage reducer off the ignition switch. "Half splitting" the 24 volt by taking a 12 volt tap is generally NOT a good idea.
As for the speakers, take a multimeter on low ohms and connect to the chassis on one side, and then each of the wires to ascertain if they are earthed via the speaker. Generally they will have a "stripe" down one of the wires, denoting the same terminal on each speaker.
Failing that, if you can get the speaker grills off the front there is a way of working out the polarity of the sparkers. By using a AA battery and looking at whether the coil goes in or out when the wires are momentarily brushed across the AA battery's terminals you should be able to see the cones move the same way (both out or both in). This is phased correctly. (if it is unclear, try using a 9V battery, BUT NOT THE CAR BATTERY!!!)

some are 24 volt, lukily mine isnt. but even the 24 volt MQ/MK's run 12v at the radio and cluster.
i have a fairly good idea of what im doing i just can be bothered checking the wires for myself, i dont see the point if someone else has a wiring diag or has done this before.

i thought speakers use alternating current so why would it really matter if they are connected around the wrong way? just curious!

It doesnt matter so much for the higher frequencies, but if you like a bit of bass then the speakers tend to cancel each other out (one "pushes" and the other "pulls"). It will not give a true stereo "seperation" if the speakers are out of phase, not that you would hear it anyway over the engine noise...
