Hi all i currently have a 1984 1 litre sierra

How much would it cost to convert my diffs to 1.3 litre widetrack diffs?

I can get the diffs for $55 each (is that alright?)

I would rather pay the money and know it's done right as i am only 16

and have very litle knowledge about welding ect.

Thanks Brad

Diffs = 55 each are cheap. Beware ratios will change going to the 1.3 diffs. The perches will have to be taken off and rewelded to diff to suit the 1ltr ones.

Unsure on costs and legalities.

and im pretty sure 1 liter is 4.1:1 55 dollars for widetrac diff is an absolute bargain. cost of conversion depends on whether you have a friend who knows how to do fab work or if you have to pay a fab shop to do it for you. there is probably a days work in the mounts if you were to take your diffs stripped bare, ie (clean housings) and get them to cut your spring mounts of and reweld new ones in the right place.

the 4.11 narrow track 1 litre diff centres DONT fit into 3.9 narrow track ( 1.3 Litre ) or wide track housings, please dont be caught by this.

I beleive u can get 4.6 or 4.9 LJ diffs to suit the 1ltr housings.

U can get 4.6,5.12 ratios for 1.3 diffs also. May be more but i am not sure.

I'm pretty sure i will do the conversion.

My deciding factor is the gearing. Where would i be able to get the

4.6 , 5.12 ratios for 1.3? Or even transfercase gearing if need be.

transfer gears some in forsale section or bbm web site

5.12 out of vit centres but they dont just fit they need spacers made 'i think'

buy a second hand 1.3 transfer strip it put in new gears you should only have to change the jack-shaft flange as that you are changing it to 1.3 diffs and reuse 1.3 tail shafts

or if its too hard you could sell the diffs to me ;)
