G'day guys,
the previous owner of my 40 series was running the rear diff without axle seal so the oil and grease have been mixed together. also there is not diff breather so the oil and grease contains a bit of toolangi mud aswell  just wondering how i would go about cleaning the old dirty oil/grease/mud out of the axle tubes before i put in new oil.
Thanks for your help,
-Calvin :D

Start with wiping up what you can with absorbent rags. A kero gun is good too!

I used petrol and it came up great just remember to re oil everything as you go ;)
I mask would help too; i did mine out in the open and still got a headache from the fumes

yeh, thats the bad thing about using petrol, but petrol works much better than degreaser or diesel.
